Art & Leisure
Alot of the Peublo Peoples life revolved around art. They had a huge passion for pottery. Not one wheel was used to create their pieces, all was done by hand. They utilised pottery, basketry, and textile weaving as part of everyday living. Tradtional art forms included pottery, basketry cotton, and wool textile weaving, moccasin making, drum making, painting, heishi, shell and turquoise jewellry, bow and arrow making, and cotton wood root carving. They were very detailed people. For leisure, the Puebloans had feast days scattered throughout the year. For the children, all was fun and games. Some games included Corn Husk Shuttlecocks, and Corn Cob Darts. In Corn Husk Shuttlecocks, the children made badminton like shuttlecocks out of corn husk feathers, and they used their hands to hit them. In Corn Cob Darts, they made a round hoop, either out of bundled corn husks or bent branches. They made darts out of pointed sticks jabbed into corncobs. The main objective of the game was to aim the dart into the hoop. Even though the Pueblos lead a simple clean life, there was no shortage of excitment.
These are some examples of the Pueblos pottery, basketry, and their corn cob darts. They were very skilled in all their deeds, and the results of all their creations were exceptional.
